MEETING OF AMBASSADOR APITONIAN WITH THE SPEAKER OF THE FINNISH PARLIAMENT MS. PAULA RISIKKO.

     On May 30, Ambassador of Armenia to Sweden and Finland Artak Apitonian met with the Speaker of the Finnish Parliament Ms. Paula Risikko.
    The Ambassador congratulated Ms. Risikko on her election to that highest post and presented the current developments in Armenian-Finnish relations, as well as the upcoming programs.
    It was mutually noted with satisfaction that a new impetus to the bilateral political and parliamentary cooperation was given by the visits of the Armenian Parliament’s Foreign Relations Committee delegation to Helsinki in November last year the Finnish-Armenian Friendship Group of the Finnish Parliament this April, as well as by the recent meeting of the Presidents of two countries in Tbilisi.
    Both sides highlighted the need to maintain the dynamics of the Armenian-Finnish high-level dialogue, including the exchanges in the parliamentary level.
    Ambassador Apitonian presented the political situation in Armenia, the formation of a new government and its foreign policy priorities.
    Ambassador also emphasized Finland's support on development of Armenia-EU relations. The Ambassador and the Speaker underlined the importance of prompt ratification of the EU-Armenia Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement by the Finnish Parliament.
