Ambassador Apitonian’s meeting with The Speaker of the Swedish Riksdag, Urban Ahlin

On October 29, the Ambassador of Armenia to Sweden Artak Apitonian met with the Speaker of the Swedish Riksdag Urban Ahlin.

The ambassador congratulated Mr. Ahlin on his election to that high office, transmitted the letter of congratulations from his Armenian counterpart and the invitation to visit Armenia.

During the meeting, the issues of Armenian-Swedish bilateral agenda have been discussed with particular emphasis on improving the cooperation between the parliaments and political forces of the two countries.

Ambassador Apitonian reaffirmed readiness of the Armenian authorities to deepen and strengthen the cooperation with the European Union and its member states, as well as their strong commitment to continue the structural reforms in the spheres of democracy, human rights, and good governance. In this context, an early consideration and signature of a new legal instrument regulating the relations between Armenia and the European Union was particularly prioritized.

Upon the request of Speaker Ahlin, Ambassador Apitonian presented recent efforts by Armenia as well as the OSCE Minsk Group towards the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict as well as the latest developments in the wider region.
