Ambassador’s lecture at Umeå University

On April 3, 2017, Ambassador Artak Apitonian delivered a lecture “Armenia: the past, the present and the future” at Umeå University. The event was organized by the University’s Association of International Affairs.

Ambassador presented the milestones of Armenian history and the fundamental issues that the country currently faces. He elaborated on the stages of Armenia’s constitutional developments and on recent parliamentary elections, provided general information about the economy and culture of Armenia. The lecture also covered issues relating to the self-determination of the people of Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh) and the peaceful solution of the conflict as well as presented the process of the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide.

Ambassador Apitonian has expressed his appreciation that a group of students of Umeå University will pay a study trip to Armenia preferring it within a bunch of other options.

At the end of the lecture, Ambassador answered to the students’ questions and provided additional information on topics of their interest.
